Our Method

We believe in a holistic approach where psychology and dietetics work in rhythm and harmony. Our evidence-based, athlete-centred care ensures that every step of recovery is supported by the latest clinical research and is tailored to your unique needs. Many eating disorder services ban exercise during recovery, we know that the most up to date research evidence does not support this and that there are ways to simultaneously recover and maintain sport performance.

Case Example

The Athlete Scenario
Psychological Support

Our Psychologist worked on decoupling self-worth from athletic performance and addressing the underlying anxiety driving restrictive behaviours. This allowed the athlete to develop healthier coping mechanisms for the pressures of elite competition.

Clinical Dietetics

Simultaneously, our dietitian implemented a high-energy availability plan tailored to training demands. We focused on bone health restoration and metabolic recovery, ensuring the athlete was fueled enough to heal while staying connected to their sport.

An elite triathlete presented with recurrent stress fractures and declining performance markers. Despite high training volumes, they struggled with persistent fatigue and an obsessive focus on 'lean' body composition, leading to restrictive eating patterns and social isolation within their sporting environment that surpassed a clinical threshold.

The Result: By synchronizing professional support through the specialised Psychologist and Dietitian, the athlete achieved clinical remission of the psychological symptoms whilst improving physiological health, all without the need to withdraw from training.

The Integrated Advantage

Current science believes that the best recovery from eating disorders and RED-S requires a unified approach from multiple professionals. By integrating clinical psychology with dietetics, we provide a framework that also addresses both the psychological and the physiological demands of sport performance. This integrated model ensures that athletes receive a comprehensive care plan that is both nutritionally and psychologically sustainable and effective.

HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist

The titles 'Clinical Psychologist' and 'Dietitian' are legally protected in the UK and regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). That means every person who holds them has completed doctoral or masters-level clinical training, is subject to ongoing professional standards, and can be held accountable if those standards aren't met. Terms like 'mental health coach', 'nutritionist', 'mentor', 'wellbeing practitioner' etc. carry no such guarantees — anyone may use them, regardless of their training or experience. At Performance Mind Group, the people working with you aren't self-certified. They're clinicians.
